Description : Collaborate with leadership in planning, coordinating, and implementing the strategies, goals, and objectives of the department. Provide subject matter expertise on workers compensation matters to the City team and citywide partners. Present and provide recommendations on Workers Compensation Authority Requests to the City Council in closed session. Supervise, review, examine, and adjust workers compensation claims. Review claims and provide recommendations for future handling. Supervise, train, and evaluate professional, technical, and clerical staff as assigned. Advise employees and dependents of entitlement to Workers' Compensation benefits under State Law and City policy as required while maintaining a high level of customer service. Plans, coordinates, and conducts highly sensitive workers' compensation assignments or projects and prepares reports of findings and recommends solutions. Coordinate and conduct training for departments regarding procedures and reporting deadlines involving work related injuries. Attend WCAB hearings and authorize settlement authority as directed by the City Council. Supervise the preparation, or filing, and maintenance of required records, forms, and reports. Prepare and present staff reports and other correspondence as appropriate.
Requirements : Equivalent to a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration. Two years of additional qualifying experience may substitute for two years of the required education on a year-for-year basis.
